Introduction

Institute for Humanities and Cultural Studies invites all post graduate and PhD students seeking solutions to the problems of today’s world to apply to the Graduate Summer School on Man and Challenges of the Contemporary World which will be held in Tehran, Iran, July, 15-22, 2010. This program will provide a unique opportunity for the young participants to explore the multifaceted challenges of our world and to share their ideas and perspectives in an environment of multicultural interaction.

Objectives

  • To develop a resource and knowledge base for young intellectuals, community leaders, and graduates seeking theoretical and practical solutions to the challenges of our world
  • To prepare a friendly environment for inter-religious dialogue and multicultural interaction among young scholars in order to provide them with different perspectives on the challenges

  • First Day: Modern Man, Religion and Spirituality
  • Second Day: Modern Man, Communication and The Media
  • Third Day: Modern Man, Peace and Globalization
  • Forth Day: Man and The Crisis of The Modern Science
  • Fifth Day: Woman In The New World

Application Procedure

Interested post graduate and PhD students who are under 35 years old may email us their Curriculum Vitae, filled Application Form and a 1000-1500 word Essay on one of the topics mentioned in the above themes. Having work experience in related fields such as Humanities, Religious Studies. Political Science, Philosophy, Sociology, Journalism, Film or Media Studies, Peace and Human Rights would be appropriate but not necessary.

Selected applicants will be required to deliver a 10-minute presentation on a specific challenge their countries is dealing with and to suggest possible solutions they may have for the situation. Deadline for the application is 31st March 2010 and selected applicants will be informed about the results by mid-April 2010.

Fees

There is NO registration fee for selected participants. A few scholarships provided by a cultural institute are available to partially subsidize the expenses for outstanding applicants
